Studies have proven that the best way to beat stress is to share your feelings and sharing with someone in the same situation gives the best results. It also suggests that 12.7% of all sickness absence days in the UK can be attributed to mental health conditions. That’s 91 million working days lost annually, with stress, anxiety and depression the biggest causes.
It’s something we should all be concerned about.
Certainly, it caused concern for the Frazzled Cafe founder and patron Ruby Wax, OBE. Ruby felt there was a need for people to come together “to share their stories, calmly sitting together, stating their case and feeling validated as a result.” The Frazzled Cafe facilitates peer support meetings across the UK where people who are feeling frazzled and overwhelmed by the stresses of modern life can come together in a safe space to talk openly, connect and feel heard. Where if you’re feeling frazzled you can talk and share – a place where it’s okay, to not be okay.
How did Sei Mani become involved with the Frazzled Cafe?
Interestingly, one of our digital transformation consultants Alison Rothwell, is a volunteer with the Frazzled Cafe. Ali works with our team of experts who successfully enable companies to set up remote workplaces. With coronavirus closing down face-to-face contact, it was important for Frazzled Cafe to quickly adjust and move to an online meeting platform. This meant that their volunteer meeting Hosts also needed to learn how to host their virtual meetings using Zoom.
This is where Sei Mani could help.
Ali highlighted their plight to Sei Mani who were eager to help. With the support of some of the team at Sei Mani, Ali set up and conducted Zoom training sessions and created Zoom support packs for the volunteers who host Frazzled Cafe’s meetings. It was important to get the volunteer Hosts proficient in running online sessions and set up quickly to continue the valuable support they provide. Did it help? Yes! The Frazzled Cafe Hosts are now comfortable running their sessions online and providing a valuable service to many. Ali summed up “I’m so proud to work for Sei Mani, the support and time they’ve allowed me to take in my working day to help people host these cafes quickly has been incredible.” Ali continues to support Frazzled Cafe, with the support of Sei Mani building a digital induction learning solution on some of the topics that used to be delivered via an in person and paper induction pack.
